Eric Djemba Djemba

Club: Nantes
Position: Midfielder

The 21-year-old broke into the national squad for the African Cup of Nations Finals but had to wait until Spring for his first cap.

He earned his call-up with some impressive displays during his first full season for Nantes.

A product of the youth set-up at the French side, he is a tenacious midfielder comfortable in the middle or on the right-flank - and is not afraid to go in where it hurts.

Clocks up his fair share of yellow cards, but that is not surprising given his all-action style.

Djemba played his part in his club side's run to the second stage of the Champions League in 2001/02, enjoying his best game in the victory over Lazio.
