Yves Vanderhaege

Club: Anderlecht
Position: Defender

Vanderhaege peaked late in his career, not making his debut on the international stage until the age of 29.

His industrious style, picked up by spending his early days with the less glamorous clubs in Belgium, caught the eye of Robert Waseige heading into Euro 2000.

In his role as the midfield grafter he has been a rock during the Red Devils' qualifying campaign for the 2002 World Cup.

He has also benefited from the experience of taking on some of Europe's finest players in this season's Champions League.
