Super Eagles to play on

Nigeria coach Adegboye Onigbinde has expressed disappointment after his team's 2-1 loss to Sweden.

But he insists that the Super Eagles will play hard in their last-remaining Group F match against England.

Friday's defeat eliminates Nigeria from the World Cup, the first time in their tournament history that they have failed to qualify for the second round.

"It is very disappointing but we tried hard and I have to face the fact that my team is now out of the competition," Onigbinde said.

Nigeria are the first casualty from the "group of death" but Onigbinde insists that they will not be giving England free passage to the next round.

His team play Sven-Goran Eriksson's men in their last group game on 12 June.

"We still have one match to go, and the players will try their hardest against England," Onigbinde insists.

Nigeria's performance was praised by Sweden coach Lars Lagerback who admits that they had to work hard for their victory

"Nigeria had good individual skills and were dangerous in attack but had some problems in defence, which we were able to take advantage of," he said.

"We could have scored even more goals so I think we deserved the win.
