World Cup final ratings

BBC Sport Online rates both teams as Brazil beat Germany 2-0 to win their fifth World Cup.

Oliver Kahn
His error led to Ronaldo's first goal and Germany's downfall. Could not be blamed for the second.

Thomas Linke
Early tackle on Ronaldinho gave him confidence. Timed his challenges excellently.

Christoph Metzelder
Confident on the ball, used his pace and strength to try and resist Brazil's surges.

Carsten Ramelow
Organised his defence superbly. Could do little against Brazil's brilliant threaded balls.

Torsten Frings
Solid enough without really catching the eye. Typically hard-working performance.

Dietmar Hamann
Superb at breaking up play. Made several telling tackles but lost the ball that led to Brazil's goal.

Jens Jeremies
Nearly scored with a flying header. Hardly spectacular but a solid defensive game.

Bernd Schneider
Best player on the pitch in the first half. Creative in attack, popping up on both flanks.

Miroslav Klose
Saw very little of the ball, often isolated in the penalty area with Neuville pulling wide or dropping deep to find the ball.

Oliver Neuville
All twists and turns, he really got stuck into the Brazilian defenders. Hit the post with a brilliant free-kick.

Marco Bode
Tried to push up on Cafu and keep the Brazilian skipper on defensive duty. Did not let his team down.

Oliver Bierhoff
(Replaced Klose, 74 mins)
His opportunistic shot on the turn was superbly saved by Marcos. Had few other chances to impress.

Gerald Asamoah replaced Jens Jeremies after 77 minutes and Christian Ziege came on for Marco Bode seven minutes later. Neither made much impact on the game.

Amazing finger-tip save from Neuville's free kick and brilliantly denied Bierhoff. Otherwise had little to do.

Restricted to defensive duty in the early stages. Little evidence of his raking cross-field balls or bursts into the opposition penalty area.

Is there anyone better at bringing the ball out of defence? Dribbled through the German midfield on several occasions.

Roque Junior
Booked early but recovered well. Effective presence alongside Lucio and Edmilson.

Crucial early interception from Schneider's cross. Key block from a Jeremies header and good going forward.

Roberto Carlos
Like Cafu, pinned back in his own half for long periods. Low, driving crosses caused problems when he did get forward.

Gilberto Silva
Endured a frustrating first half, but had a brilliant header saved by Kahn and improved as the game wore on.

Picked up a lot of ball in midfield and tried to get forward with the Three R's so heavily marked. Hit the crossbar after 42 minutes.

Very quiet match. Hardly saw the ball before Brazil took the lead. But his shot was spilled by Kahn for Ronaldo to open the scoring.

Heavily marked throughout but amazing on the ball. Played several killer passes through Germany's defence.

Scored both his team's goals and got into a lot of goalscoring positions. Great finish for his second of the final.

Juninho replaced Ronaldinho with five minutes left. Instigated a break from midfield but could not pick out Ronaldo. Denilson came on for Ronaldo in the closing minutes.
