Mark Bright

Mark Bright, a prolific striker for Crystal Palace and Sheffield Wednesday, has worked for the BBC on TV and radio since 1999.

Born in 1962, Bright shot to fame with Crystal Palace, appeared in two Wembley finals and formed half of one of the most famous striking partnerships in recent times with Ian Wright at Crystal Palace.

Now 'Brightie' is looking forward to his first taste of the World Cup.

Bright will be BBC Sport's roving reporter in Korea.

"I was just looking forward to going out. I was keeping my fingers crossed that I was going to go to Korea," he said.

"I am a person who likes to travel and I am looking forward to everything new. When we get out there it is going to be totally different.

"Getting around the country is going to be a challenge because the Koreans do not speak very good English and the signs are all in Korean, but it will be fun."

After finishing his career at Charlton Athletic, he worked for Sky and ITV as a match summariser.

During the 1998 World Cup, Bright worked for the Big Breakfast and hosted a weekly punditry show during the 1998/99 season.

In 1999 he first appeared on Match of the Day as a pundit, and reported from Belgium and Holland at the European Championships.

He presented Monday Night Football and The Mark Bright Show for Radio Five Live during 2000, and in 2001 began a new football phone-in programme with Ian Wright.

The Wright and Bright show was a resounding success, with the ex-strikers pulling on all their contacts and arranging some classic interviews.
