A BBC commentator since joining Radio Leeds in 1990, Dave Woods has covered his twin loves of football and rugby league.
He commentated on Leeds United's championship season of 1991-92 before getting his break on Five Live in unusual circumstances.
When the scheduled commentator was involved in a traffic accident en route for Burnley, Woods was the only possible replacement able to reach Turf Moor in time.
Since stepping in successfully, he has gone on to combine his role as Five Live's leading rugby league commentator with regular football duties.
He was part of the BBC team at the 1998 World Cup and in 2001 covered the World Under-20 Championships.
