With a distinct radio style all his own, Jonathan Pearce has been snapped up by the BBC for the 2002 World Cup.
He began a broadcasting career when his hopes of becoming a professional footballer were ended by a leg injury and went on to become sports editor at Radio West in Bristol.
Pearce then moved to London to launch Capital Gold Sport, commentating on more than 150 England internationals and three World Cups.
Born in 1959, he is a long-time Bristol City fan, despite now living in Brighton with his wife and two children.
