Green watches more than 100 games a season
One of BBC Five Live's top football commentators, Alan Green was born in Belfast in 1952 and studied modern history at Queen's University.

After a stint working for local newspapers, he joined the BBC in 1975 and presented current affairs on radio and television in Northern Ireland before switching to sport.

An avid football fan, Green sees more than 100 matches a season and is popular for his honest and uncompromising assessment of the game.

He also commentates on rowing and golf and was a member of the award-winning Five Live team at the last Ryder Cup.

Green is married with two children and lives in Cheshire.
