Uruguay's first choice World Cup
goalkeeper Fabian Carini has joined Barcelona from Juventus on a
one-season loan deal, the Italian club said on Saturday.
"It is an honour to be able to move to a club with such a
great potential and history," Carini was quoted as saying by
Spanish sports daily Marca after playing in Uruguay's 2-1 defeat
against Denmark on Saturday.
The 22-year-old, who joined Juventus in January 2001, has
been second string to Italian international Gianluigi Buffon at
the Serie A club, but played in the Italian Cup and a number of
European matches this season.
Barcelona are also close to signing German keeper Robert
Enke, who is a free agent after finishing his contract at
Benfica at the end of the season, according to media reports.
