Turkey coach Senol Gunes had to choose between Trabzonspor's Metin Aktas and Zafer Ozgultekin when selecting his third keeper for the World Cup - he went for the latter.
The 26-year-old came to prominence when he was brought to Ankara club Ankaragucu to replace Brazilian Roberto da Silva, who had lost form.
Zafer's performances helped his side finish fourth in the Turkish league and that swayed Gunes into picking the young keeper.
It is unlikely he will play with Rustu Recber and Omer Catkic heading the top two berths.
