Despite still being overlooked for first team duty, he remains in the Serie A side's squad for the time being.

He was a major force for previous club Galatasaray and started nine of Turkey's World Cup qualifying matches.

It remains to be seen whether his lack of first team football is held against him by coach Senol Gunes.
