Arif has been one of the leading strikers in the Turkish first division for a decade.

He joined Gala in the early 1990s and made an immediate impact when he grabbed a brace against Manchester United in a European tie.

Arif also scored the winning goal against Barcelona in the Champions League during the 1994/1995 season.

The forward is famous for having scored the fastest international hat-trick, against Northern Ireland during the 2000 European Championships campaign.

He joined Spanish side Real Sociedad, but eventually re-signed for Galatasaray for £2.5m, in November 2000.
