Pape Sarr is one of four Lens contenders in Senegal's World Cup squad but like Pape Bouba Diop he has not been given much attention.
His other team-mate El Hadji Diouf won the African footballer of the year award while Ferdinand Coly was among those shortlisted for the coveted annual prize.
He started playing in France for Saint-Etienne, moving into the French first division with them at the start of the 1999/2000 campaign.
But he was later snapped up by rivals Lens.
At international level he often acts as the core of his team's forward-thinking style of play.
