Metsu move claims denied
Bruno Metsu in training
Metsu has developed a strong bond with his players
The vice president of the Senegalese FA Bounama Dieye has denied rumours that coach Bruno Metsu may be on the move.

Since leading the Lions to the quarter finals of the World Cup in their debut there have been rumblings that Metsu may be tempted to accept a more lucrative offer elsewhere.

The strongest rumours have linked him to the Turkish side Gaziantespor.

But Dieye insisted to BBC Sport Online that the rumours were unfounded.

As far as we are concerned he is still under contract to manage Senegal and if that contract is to be cancelled that would have to be done through the appropriate channels.

"If there is any uncertainty (about Metsu's future) it is coming from people who are not part of the team," Dieye said.

"As far as I'm concerned when I spoke to him on Thursday he was not talking about leaving."

Under Metsu's tutelage the Senegal team became only the second African side to make it as far as the World Cup quarter finals.

Along the way they claimed the scalps of the defending champions France and Sweden.

With Metsu in charge Senegal have also developed a stylish and entertaining brand of football, which was admired by many at the World Cup.

With such success Dieye accepted it was no surprise that there would be rumours about Metsu's future with the Lions.

"It's always the same after an important occasion when a coach has been successful, other people want to hire him," he said.

"But as far as we are concerned he is still under contract to manage Senegal and if that contract is ever to be cancelled or shortened that would have to be done through the appropriate channels.

"For the time being we are already looking forward to the Nations Cup qualifiers, we have a game in September and Bruno leaving is not on the agenda.

"Everybody here wants him to stay and I don't see why we would want to let him go."
