Liverpool agree terms for Diao
Senegal's midfielder Salif Diao shakes hands with a South Korean fan
Daio has been dubbed the "new Vieira"
Liverpool have agreed terms with Sedan to bring Senegal international Salif Diao to Anfield.

Diao helped unheralded club side Sedan to safety in the France's Le Championnat this season, and his defensive qualities were instrumental in helping Senegal to their first-ever World Cup.

The club will now hope to discuss terms with the player once his involvement in the World Cup ends.

The 25-year-old defensive midfielder, who was an ever-present during the African Nations Cup earlier this year, is set to play in Friday's World Cup opener against France.

"We have reached an agreement with Sedan for the terms of the transfer," said Liverpool spokesman Ian Cotton.

Diao will not require a work permit to join the Reds as he already holds a French passport after playing for Monaco.
