Beto has relished his role at the centre of Portugal's defence and has won plaudits from clubs across Europe.

Real Madrid were reportedly willing to part with £10m for the Sporting Lisbon star but he has since opted to stay in his home league for the time being.

He failed to find the target in six appearances in qualifying but made a strong enough impression to ensure his place on the plance to the Far East.
