Sergio Conceicao terrorised defences at Euro 2000 with his runs up and down the right wing.

As with many players in the Portugal side that made it to the semi-final of the championships two years ago, Conceicao enhanced his profile and value.

He was already part of top Serie A side Lazio, and helped the Rome side to the domestic championship during the 1999-2000 season.

Conceicao moved to Parma for more than £10m, but only spent one season there before another Italian giant, Inter Milan, came in for his services.

At the World Cup, he will form a strong Portugal midfield that includes Luis Figo and Rui Costa.
