Since then he has popped up regularly for the national side, scoring two goals along the way.

Has only just turned 26 and still has a lengthy career ahead of him.

But his role in the World Cup looks likely to mirror the one in qualifying, where he started most matches from the bench but made an appearance at some stage in nearly every game.
