Cardozo is the old, relatively speaking, in Paraguay's old and new strike partnership.

At 31, he is 11 years the senior of fellow forward Roque Santa Cruz but, while Santa Cruz has shone from an early age, Cardozo has begun to surpass expectations over the last few years.

He was his country's top scorer, finding the target six times in 18 games and showed great awareness for the players around him.

His aggressive style has already seen offers come in from elsewhere in central and south America.
