Diego Gavilan became and remains the only Paraguayan playing in England when he joined Newcastle United in the midst of the 2000 season for £1m.
Since then, he has failed to find a place in the starting line-up but still keeps his best performances for the national side.
He carries the nickname "Sparrowhawk" and is arguably one of Paraguay's most gifted performers with great speed and a strong attacking mentality.
Still only 22, he made his debut against Bolivia back in June 1999 while at his only other professional club - Cerro Porteno.
