Roque Santa Cruz
Club:Bayern Munich
Position:Forward

Roque Santa Cruz picked up the nickname of "BabyGol" after being likened to Argentina's Gabriel Batistuta when he sprung to fame in 1999.

That year he scored three goals in the Under-20 World Cup and, as a result, won a call-up to the senior team for the Copa America campaign.

Aged just 17 at the time, he was already deemed talented enough to lead his country's attack and also caught the eye of Bayern Munich who prised him away from Paraguay's Olimpia in a big money move.

Munich manager Ottmar Hitzfield has not yet rewarded Santa Cruz with a regular spot in his side, but knows his player possesses more skill than his ungainly appearance might suggest.

Two-footed, and with plenty of international experience already behind him, Santa Cruz's are Paraguay's most likely route to the second round.
