After four seasons with Urawa Red Diamonds, one of the biggest sides in Japan's J-League, Shinji Ono moved to Dutch giants Feyenoord last summer.
At just 22 years of age he has plenty of time to fulfil his potential, but it is already expected that he can go on to be as successful as team-mate Hidetoshi Nakata.
Ono has quickly adapted to European football and has played his part in Feyenoord's successful Uefa Cup run this season.
He will benefit from playing alongside the experienced Nakata in Japan's midfield and appears to possess the necessary composure and level-headed temperament to cope with the high level of expectation.
