Japan coach wants to follow Wenger
Japan coach Philippe Troussier
A career in club football beckons for Troussier
Japan coach Philippe Troussier says he hopes coaching Japan could lead to a career as a club manager in the English Premiership.

Troussier has already insisted he will not be staying on in his position once the World Cup campaign is over.

And he now says he would like to follow fellow Frenchman and former Japan coach, Arsene Wenger, into a career in the Premiership.

Wenger has proved a huge success in England since becoming manager of Arsenal after a spell coaching Japan.

And Troussier appears to favour a future at club level rather than becoming coach of another country.

"I am not going to extend my contract," he said.

"The mission in Asia that I have accepted takes a lot of energy and personal motivation. I believe I'm no longer keen to do my utmost on that position after the World Cup.

"At the moment I have two alternatives. I can remain a national team's coach or follow in the steps of Arsene Wenger.

"If I could choose between European teams, I would prefer to take over an English team even if it's a Second Division side.

"I'm not interested in coaching a French side. I am a French coach, but I hope people would forget about it."
