Vincenzo Montella catapulted himself to the attention of England and the rest of Europe when his two goals sealed a 2-1 victory over the English back in March.

First he sent a stunning drive past David James in goal, followed by a last-minute penalty, to effectively book his place in Italy's 23-man squad.

The 2001/2002 season has finally seen him make the impact he had earlier promised, alongside Gabriel Batistuta and Francesco Totti at Rome's Stadio Olimpico.
