Boksic pledges fitness
Alen Boksic
Boksic missed France 1998 and Euro 2000
Alen Boksic insists he will be fit for Croatia's opening World Cup match, despite struggling with an abdominal injury.

Croatia kick off their campaign against Mexico on 3 June and Boksic said: "Knowing myself and my body, there should be no problems playing in our first game.

"The main thing now is to focus on training without pushing myself to the limits in the next 10 days.

"I am probably being too careful but I've had too many injuries to risk now. I want to play at this World Cup."

The 32-year old Middlesbrough striker missed Euro 96 and the 1998 World Cup finals in France.

Croatia also face three-times World Cup champions Italy and debutants Ecuador in the opening group phase.
