Li Weifeng eyes English move
The Chinese squad in training
Weifeng (centre) is China's star defender
China's star central defender Li Weifeng says he is mulling over a move to the Premiership after the World Cup.

The 24-year-old plays for Shenzhen Ping'an in the Chinese league, but did not say which English club he might be joining.

"There are several clubs in contact with me, but right now I want to concentrate on my performance in the World Cup, because with that I can achieve a lot, which would benefit my future.

"I have a possibility in the English Premiership. It does not matter whether the team is the best in the Premiership, what matters is that I can play football on a pitch rather than observing from a bench," he said.

Speculation suggests that the club in question is Southampton as Li Weifeng trained with them before the World Cup.

China's first World Cup match is on Tuesday against Costa Rica.
