Kameni became the youngest ever footballer to win gold at the Olympics following his efforts in the final against Spain.
Then just 16 years old, he pulled off a series of incredible saves to halt Chile in the semi-finals and then held out the Spanish in the final with another sensational performance in a penalty shootout.
Now still just 17, he proved to be a valuable asset at Le Havre before being picked up by Italian side Juventus.
He made his name for the full side in the 2001 Confederations Cup but is unlikely to feature massively in this year's World Cup due to his age.
His age and talent should ensure he has a lengthy future with Cameroon.
