There are few more high-pressure jobs in football than managing Brazil - a country which expects to win every World Cup.

And Luiz Felipe Scolari, 53, has certainly had some ups and downs in the hot seat.

After taking over from Emerson Leao last June, he had a disastrous Copa America and only just managed to get Brazil to the World Cup finals.

But since securing qualification things have taken a turn for the better in the Far East.

As one of his country's most successful club managers he has often been criticised for the over-aggressive style his teams employ.

Scolari prefers his teams to play a defensive game and is said to instruct players to use any means possible to prevent the opposition from finding a rhythm.

He was banished from the touchline during one Copa America match after arguing with an official.

Scolari has won the Libertadores Cup with both Gremio and Palmeiras in Brazil.

"Big Phil", as he is known back home, has already announced his intention to resign when the World Cup campaign is over.
