The 26-year-old was summoned after captain Emerson was ruled out
of the finals when he injured his shoulder in a training session.
"I am ready for the trip and for the World Cup," said Ricardinho, after being confirmed by coach Luiz Felipe Scolari as Emerson's
"When I heard the news that I was going I was very happy. This
is a dream for me, but the dream can only be completed by Brazil
winning the World Cup.
"The important thing for me is to help the team as best as I can
and help the team win the trophy," added Ricardinho.
"It is very sad what has happened to Emerson and that he will be
out for four weeks. He is a great professional."
Ricardinho has played three times for the national team, but this is the first time he has been called up by Scolari.
Brazil open their campaign against Turkey in Group C at Ulsan on Monday.
