Almeyda began his career with top Argentine team River Plate back in 1991.
The 28-year-old then moved to Spanish side Sevilla where he spent one season before his talents were spotted by Italian Serie A side Lazio.
He spent three seasons in Rome, helping them to the league and cup Double in 2000 as well as European Cup Winnners' Cup the previous year.
He moved on to Parma after helping Lazio to the title.
