He played 14 matches in the build-up to his country's relatively trouble-free qualification.

Veron ought to be able to adapt to Sorin's style, as the Cruzeiro midfielder's presence and workrate match that of Veron's United team-mates Nicky Butt and Roy Keane.

He may lack the magical touch of some of his peers, but Sorin looks on course to be a regular in Korea and Japan
