Uruguay coach Victor Pua refused to be dispirited by his team's opening defeat by Denmark.
The South Americans were sunk by two goals from Jon Dahl Tomasson, with the winner coming just eight minutes from full-time.
But Pua insisted that his team are not out of the running for a place in the second round.
He said after the 2-1 defeat: "Our morale remains high, we are still in the competition and we are looking ahead to the next two matches.
"We will also try to think about the mistakes we made today.
"The match was a balanced one and we had a good game but Denmark took their chances and that's football.
"Denmark scored at the right moments but, despite the defeat, we will work hard for the next match."
Uruguay's next game is against France in Busan on Thursday.
With both sides having lost their openers, this contest will be critical to their chances of progressing.
