Sweden 1-2 Senegal (aet)
A thrilling golden goal from Henri Camara took Senegal through at Sweden's expense and ensured Africa will be represented in the last eight.
In the 103rd minute, Camara, who had earlier scored Senegal's equaliser, latched on to Pape Thiaw's clever backheel, ghosted past Johan Mjallby and netted off the post.
By reaching the quarter-finals - where they will meet either Japan or Turkey - Senegal became only the second African nation ever to reach the last eight of the competition.
Camara's strike was a cruel climax for Sweden who saw Anders Svensson slam the ball against the post just minutes earlier.
Henrik Larsson had given the Swedes an early lead, but Senegal forced their way back into the game and deservedly levelled just before the interval.
After the restart, the game was more even as the Swedish defence got to grips with the speed and movement of the impressive El Hadji Diouf.

Tony Sylva reacted well to save Marcus Allback's volley
and then Anders Svensson's powerful volley went just wide.
On 72 minutes substitute Andreas Andersson shot wildly over the bar after Larsson had sent him clear.
Another Swedish substitute Zlatan Ibrahimovic showed more composure when he cut inside, but instead of passing to Larsson, the Ajax forward selfishly shot and the chance was wasted.
Sweden had also had the upper hand during the opening exchanges, when Larsson took advantage of Sylva's poor position to head home at the near post.
Traditional powerbases
But that goal was merely the cue for Senegal to wrestle back the initiative.
To the sound of a incessant drum beat pounded out by their supporters, midfielders Aliou Cisse and Pape Bouba Diop relentlessly drove the Dakar Lions forward.
When the ball reached the danger zone more often than not it seemed magnetically drawn to the feet of Diouf.
Nominally positioned on the left, but roaming across the width of the front line, the Liverpool-bound striker had a reasonable penalty claim denied when barged off the ball by Andreas Jakobsson.
Then Diouf's trickery and neat footwork allowed him to drill the ball across the penalty area which Bouba Diop slid home, only for the goal to be ruled out for offside.
Finally Senegal did draw level thanks to Camara's quick thinking.
He controlled the ball on his chest, outwitted Teddy Lucic, Johan
Mjallby and Magnus Svensson with a drop of the shoulders and then hit a low cross-shot past Hedman.
Camara's goals means that Senegal, making their World Cup debut, become only the seventh
team from outside the traditional European and South American powerbases to reach the last eight.
