0922 BST: Sweden manage to hold on to clinch their place in the second round and condemn Argentina to a shock early exit.
Sweden 1-1 Argentina

90 mins (+3): Claudio Lopez hits the side netting as Argentina pile on the pressure.

90 mins: Four minutes of extra time is indicated as Argentina push forward and try desperately for a winner.

88 mins: Mattias Jonson fouls Ariel Ortega and concedes a penalty. Hedman saves the spot-kick but Hernan Crespo follows up with the rebound to give Argentina a glimmer of hope.
Sweden 1-1 Argentina

84 mins: Andreas Andersson keeps possession superbly and races into the penalty area but his left-footed effort is palmed by Pablo Cavallero onto the crossbar.

82 mins: Javier Zanetti's shot is palmed away by Magnus Hedman and the ball falls luckily for the Swedish defence to clear once again.

80 mins: A left-footed shot by Pablo Aimar is blocked by the determined Swedish defence.

77 mins: Henrik Larsson breaks through from his own half but after a tangle with Walter Samuel it is the Celtic man who is surprisingly booked.

75 mins: Kily Gonzalez is booked for a foul - Henrik Larsson's free kick is saved by Pablo Cavallero.

74 mins: Mauricio Pochettino almost lets Sweden in for a second goal as his clearance rebounds against Magnus Hedman before going to safety.

72 mins Teddy Lucic is too high for Henrik Larsson in the penalty area and Pablo Cavallero is able to collect the ball.

70 mins: Time is starting to run out for Argentina. They are awarded a free kick but nobody can connect with Veron's well-placed effort.

68 mins:Hernan Crespo's cross is headed away by Mellberg for a corner but the Argentines can't do anything with it.

67 mins: Mattias Jonson comes on for goalscorer Anders Svensson.

66 mins: Henrik Larsson drives a free kick against the Argentine wall.

63 mins: Argentina have their last throw of the dice bringing on Juan Sebastian Veron and Kily Gonzalez for Juan Pablo Sorin and Matias Almeyda.

59 mins: Anders Svensson is fouled by Matias Almeyda and makes Argentina pay by sending the resulting free-kick from 27 yards past the despairing keeper.

50 mins: Ariel Ortega chips the ball in right-footed to the area but the Sweden defence do their job and clear it.

49 mins: Sweden look to break forward and Magnus Svensson sends a crossfield ball to Andreas Andersson who forces a corner.

47 mins: Samuel bursts forward but Juan Pablo Sorin can't do anything with the ball.

0833 BST Sweden kick off the second half. They make a change at half-time with Andreas Andersson replacing Marcus Allback.

45 mins (+2): Argentina substitute Claudio Caniggia is sent from the bench for comments made to the referee.

45 mins: Claudio Lopez sends in a couple of tricky-looking crosses which Magnus Svensson and Johan Mjallby have to head clear.

43 mins: Claudio Lopez is caught offside making a surging run up the left.

42 mins: Argentina are continuing to give the Sweden defence some anxious moments.

41 mins: Claudio Lopez shoots just over when he was aiming for the top corner of the net.

39 mins: A foul by Walter Samuel on Marcus Allback brings a Sweden free-kick. Henrik Larsson's effort is well blocked by the wall.

37 mins: Javier Zanetti is caught offside after a through ball by Juan Pablo Sorin.

36 mins: Javier Zanetti gets in behind the defence but his cross is cleared before it can reach Juan Pablo Sorin.

34 mins: Claudio Lopez is caught offside.

30 mins: Ariel Ortega sends a cross in from the right towards the in-rushing Claudio Lopez but he hits the side netting with his shot.

29 mins: Argentina have had the vast majority of possession in the game so far as they seek a goal.

27 mins: Olof Mellberg is booked for handball.

26 mins: Pablo Aimar wins a free kick which he swings into the penalty area but Andreas Jakobsson gets a vital touch and clears.

25 mins Johan Mjallby comes to Sweden's rescue clearing the ball from Javier Zanetti in the area.

23 mins: Anders Svensson plays a cross-field ball towards Teddy Lucic but the pass is a poor one and it goes out for a Argentina throw-in.

21 mins: Ariel Ortega chips the ball forward but Juan Pablo Sorin is beaten to it in front of goal by a Swedish defender.

19 mins: Argentina are upping the tempo and a free kick by Lopez outside the area is knocked on by Juan Pablo Sorin but Pablo Aimar can't connect with it.

17 mins: Argentina force another corner after Ariel Ortega and Javier Aanetti combines well putting the defence under pressure

16 mins: Juan Pablo Sorin heads over the bar from Claudio Lopez's cross as Argentina continue to look dangerous up front.

13 mins: Ariel Ortega sends a cross into the area but Juan Pablo Sorin's header is blocked by Magnus Hedman.

12 mins: Javier Zanetti's cross from the right hits Teddy Lucic and goes out for a corner. The corner is swung in by Ariel Ortega but the Swedes clear.

10 mins: Anders Svensson shoots well wide from outside the area.

9 mins: Ariel Ortega is penalised for offside.

7 mins: Pablo Aimar is fouled by Magnus Svensson around 35 yards out. Gabriel Batistuta stands over the ball but his free-kick goes well over the bar.

5 mins: Marcus Allback is failed by Jose Chamot just outside the area and wins a free kick. Henrik Larsson's effort goes out for a corner.

4 mins: Olaf Mellberg plays the ball back to Magnus Hedman who has to clear smartly under pressure from Gabriel Batistuta.

1 min: Juan Pablo Sorin gets an early cross in but the ball is cleared for a throw-in.

0730 BST: Argentina kick off the game with much at stake for both sides.

Team news:

Argentina have dropped Juan Sebastian Veron in favour of Pablo Aimar.

Diego Simeone has lost his spot to Matias Almeyda, defender Diego Placente makes way Jose Chamot and Claudio Lopez is preferred to Kily Gonzalez.

Sweden leave out Fredrik Ljungberg, who is replaced by Magnus Svensson.

Ljungberg is suffering from a hip injury.
