Ireland player ratings
Robbie Keane's goal gave Ireland the perfect start
Robbie Keane scores Ireland's first half goal
BBC Sport Online rates the Republic of Ireland players in the 3-0 victory in their final group game against Saudi Arabia.

Shay Given
The Newcastle goalkeeper elected to punch on a couple of occasions when the catch appear to be the better option but made one great first half save to deny Al-Temyat.

Steve Finnan
The Irish right-back was solid throughout with the problems in the Irish defence all on the other flank. Another accomplished performance by the Fulham man.

Gary Breen
Glorious finish for Ireland's second goal which settled the increasingly nervous Irish. Just as impressive for Ireland at the back with one vital first half block to deny the Saudis a goal chance.

Steve Staunton
Made one vital interception late in the first half when Al-Shahrani was threatening to waltz his way through the centre of the Irish defence. Delivered the free-kick for Breen's vital goal.

Ian Harte
Misplaced passes and poor headers in the first half put Ireland under pressure on a couple of occasions. Given a torrid time by Al-Jahani and was taken off at half-time.

Gary Kelly
The Irish right flank was solid enough. Produced a great cross midway through the second half which Niall Quinn should have slammed into the net. Replaced by McAteer with 10 minutes left.

Matt Holland
Very prominent early on but gave the Saudi central midfielders far too much room in the second quarter. Improved in the second half but the Irish midfield clearly misses Roy Keane.

Mark Kinsella
Like Holland, the Charlton midfielder had a largely poor first half and was not particularly prominent after the break either. Does not appear to be at his best after all his recent injury problems.

Kevin Kilbane
Started promisingly but found himself having to track back to help out the struggling Ian Harte as the first half continued. Moved to left-back for the second half and gave the Irish a more solid look.

Damien Duff
Very lively in the first half even though he and Keane didn't receive a great service. Superb throughout the second half and his late goal capped a man-of-the-match display.

Robbie Keane
Gave the Irish a great start with his magnificently struck seventh minute goal and had three chances to add to his tally in the second half.

Substitutes:

Niall Quinn
(replaced Harte at half-time): Thrown on by Mick McCarthy at half-time in an attempt to disrupt the increasingly confident Saudi defence. Missed a great pointblank chance for an Irish third goal.

Jason McAteer
(replaced Kelly after 80 mins): Had little time to make his presence felt but his fresh legs made the Saudis work harder.

Lee Carsley:
(replaced Kinsella after 88 mins): Had little time to get into the game.
