Metzelder's hopes raised
Metzelder hurt his right ankle in Saturday's 1-0 second round victory over Paraguay
Metzelder was injured against Paraguay on Saturday
Germany defender Christoph Metzelder has resumed light training, raising hopes he could be fit in time for Friday's quarter-final against the USA.

Metzelder had not trained since being substituted with a sore right ankle in Saturday's narrow 1-0 second round victory over Paraguay.

But the Borussia Dortmund defender was able to do some light running on Tuesday.

He is the only question mark for coach Rudi Voeller ahead of the game in Ulsan.

Metzelder is receiving around-the-clock treatment in an attempt to recover in time for the last eight game.
