Rudi Voeller claims goalkeeper Oliver Kahn will be Germany's equivalent of Brazil superstars Ronaldo and Rivaldo in the World Cup final in Yokohama on Sunday.
Kahn has been outstanding throughout the tournament and will be Germany's key figure as they attempt to overturn the odds and deny Brazil a fifth World Cup.
And Germany coach Voeller was swift to recognise the importance of Bayern Munich's Kahn to his national side as they have battled their way through the tournament.
He said in Yokohama: "He is the world's best keeper. There is no doubt about that.
"He has not only shown that in this World Cup, but also when winning trophies like the Champions League with Bayern Munich.
"Everybody knows, and Oliver himself knows, he will have to perform exceptionally well to keep Brazil out in the World Cup Final.
"He is as important as outfield players such as Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldo and Rivaldo ¿ this is where I would put him in terms of his importance to our team."
And Voeller revealed the mood inside the Germany camp is buoyant, declaring: "The boys are burning to go.
"The mood in our squad is fantastic. We are thrilled to reach the final. It is natural, as it was before the semi-final, that there is a tension in the camp, but it is a positive tension.
"The boys are burning to go. We know we do not enter the match as favourites, but we are going to give it a go, although we know Brazil will have a big say in this.
"We must not approach the final in a hesitant or cautious mood. We have to believe in our own capabilities.
"If we maintain possession, as we did against South Korea, and win the one-on-one battles, then we can win."
