England have seven players under consideration for the World Cup all-star team that will be announced by Brazil legend Pele before the final in Yokohama.

The team of the tournament has been selected by a committee headed by former Aston Villa boss Dr Josef Venglos.

Sven-Goran Eriksson's team have more nominations that any other team in the tournament.

Brazil are just behind England with six players up for selection in the 53-man list.

Goalkeeper David Seaman leads the way, and he is joined by central defenders Sol Campbell and Rio Ferdinand.

England captain David Beckham leads a trio of Manchester United midfield players on the list, where he is joined by Nicky Butt and Paul Scholes.

Michael Owen is one of the attacking all-stars, along with his new Liverpool team-mate El Hadji Diouf from Senegal.

Republic of Ireland striker Robbie Keane is also under consideration after his performances in their campaign.

The list excludes players whose teams were eliminated in the first round - but players can be added if their performances merit inclusion after the remaining games of the World Cup.
