0922 BST: The final whistle blows.
Full-time score: China 0-2 Costa Rica

90 mins: Ronald Gomez has a golden chance to add a third goal but he tries to be too clever with the net at his mercy and Li Tie clears off the line.

85 mins: Costa Rica attack but try to get too intricate and the move ends with Carlos Castro hittting the ball well off-target.

84 mins: Walter Centeno needlessly pulls the shirt of a Chinese player and is booked.

83 mins: Lopez' fierce low shot is well held by Jiang Jin the Chinese goal.

79 mins: Paulo Wanchope is replaced by Wilmer Lopez.

76 mins: Ronald Gomez, not for the first time in the game, makes a meal of getting up after a foul and is booked by the referee.

73 mins: Fan Zhiyi is replaced by Yu Genwei.

71 mins: Xu Yunlong is booked for shirt-tugging as China are beginning to look ragged.

67 mins: There is a scramble in the Costa Rica penalty area but China cannot get the ball into the net.

65 mins: Poor marking by the China defence at a corner allows Costa Rica to take a firm grip on the match. Mauricio Wright nips in to head past Jiang Jin.

61 mins: Costa Rica take the lead against the run of play. Ronald Gomez' back-heel finds Paulo Wanchope. Wu Chengying challenges and the ball rolls out to Gomez who places the ball high into the net with his left foot.
China 0-1 Costa Rica

60 mins: Li Tie becomes the first China player to be booked after a trip.

58 mins: Paulo Wanchope is put through but a combination of a high bounce and the attention of Wu Chengying mean the ball goes off for a goal-kick.

56 mins: Costa Rica make their first substitution as Hernan Medford comes on for Rolando Fonseca.

55 mins: Wu Chengying gets down the left wing and sends the ball across the Costa Rica goal but Yang Chen coming in at the far post blasts the ball over.

49 mins: Carlos Castro' long-range speculative effort just dips over the bar as the second half already looks like being more entertaining than the first.

48 mins: Yang Chen's curling cross forces Erick Lonnis to come out of his goal and palm the ball away from the heads of the Chinese attack.

0834 BST: The second half gets under way with China kicking off.

45 mins: In one of the best build-ups of the half, the ball finds its way to Wu Chengying but his shot is woeful.
Half-time: China 0-0 Costa Rica

39 mins: Paulo Wanchope is bundled off the ball by Fan Zhiyi and Xu Yunlong, giving Costa Rica a free-kick in a dangerous area. But an ineffective set-piece allows China to counter-attack but Yang Chen's shot at the other end is far too weak to trouble Erick Lonnis.

38 mins: Paulo Wanchope shows some neat skill on the right-hand side but his cut-back goes behind his team-mates.

36 mins:The ball falls to Ronald Gomez on the edge of the China area but his shot slices off the outside of his foot and drifts wide.

27 mins: Paulo Wanchope finds a yard of space but heads wide from Harold Wallace's cross.

23 mins: A blow for China as Manchester City player Sun Jihai limps off to be replaced by Qu Bo.

19 mins: Mauricio Solis catches Li Tae in possession and finds himself through on China goalkeeper Jiang Jin, who manages to block his shot.

18 mins: Li Tie breaks for China and threads a ball through to Yang Chen but the Costa Rica defence scramble the ball away for a corner.

16 mins: Mauricio Solis follows his team-mate into the referee's book after a challenge on Sun Jihai.

14 mins: Luis Marin of Costa Rica becomes the first player to get a yellow card after a foul on Yang Chen.

13 mins: China break on the counter-attack but Erick Lonnis in the Costa Rica goal safely collects the long through-ball.

12 mins: Rolando Fonseca collects a pass in the Costa Rica penalty area but a dangerous-looking high challenge from Li Weifeng succeeds in dispossessiong him.

10 mins: Ma Mingyu gets a lucky break of the ball and bursts into the Costa Rica half. He has plenty of options open to him but his cross sails harmlessly long.

5 mins: Costa Rica begin to settle down and start claiming more of the possession. Paulo Wanchope turns in the box and sends the ball across the face of the goal but none of his team-mates are in a position to take advantage.

3 mins: China, who have started the more brightly of the two teams, win the first corner of the match but a poor delivery sees the ball go out for a goal-kick.

2 mins: Sun Jihai breaks down the right and is brought down but the free-kick comes to nothing.

0730 BST: The referee blows his whistle and Costa Rica kick off.

China: Jiang Jin, Wu Chengying, Fan Zhiyi, Sun Jihai, Li Tie, Ma Mingyu (capt), Hao Haidong, Li Weifeng, Li Xiaopeng, Yang Chen, Xu Yunlong.
