Rivaldo provided Brazil's main attacking impetus
BBC Sport Online rates both teams as Brazil beat Turkey 1-0 in their semi-final clash in Saitama.
Brazil
Marcos Made good saves to deny Alpay and Hakan Sukur, but with Turkey struggling to get shots on goals Marcos had a little to do.
Cafu As ever Brazil's captain strode forward at every opportunity. His fierce shot almost gave Brazil an early lead.
Lucio Superbly broke forward in the second minute and was always keen to move into attacking positions.
Roque Junior Posed few problems by the Turkish attack, Roque Junior kept his concentration and made a superb tackle to foil Ilhan Mansiz.
Edmilson Read the game well and together with Roque Junior completely subdued Sukur.
Roberto Carlos Wayward from free-kicks and not at his best crossing. Suspect defensively with most of Turkey's efforts stemming from the right.
Gilberto Silva Kept a close eye on Basturk, Gilberto Silva successfully subdued Turkey's key attacking influence.
Kleberson Gave the Brazilian midfield plenty of bite and always linked well with Cafu on the right.
Rivaldo Once he had adjusted to the game's tempo, Rivaldo's shooting and creative impetus was a joy to behold.
Edilson Proved a poor replacement for the suspended Ronaldinho and was almost anonymous throughout.
Ronaldo Wore silver boots for the occasion, his superbly taken goal was a golden strike, which amply made up for his otherwise neglible contribution.
Substitutes:
Luizao (Replaced Ronaldo, 68 mins) Replaced Ronaldo, but like his team-mate struggled to get into the game. Should have done better with his bicycle kick.
Denilson (Replaced Edilson, 75 mins) The Real Betis man provided an important outlet for Brazil on the left in the closing stages.
Belletti (Replaced Kleberson, 85 mins) Bolstered the Brazilian midfield after Kleberson went off with a knock.
Turkey
Rustu Recber Another impressive game from one of the world's best keepers, Recber kept Turkey in the match with a number of vital saves.
Bulent Korkmaz Turkey's libero swept up well throughout, but he had no answer to Ronaldo's superb goal.
Fatih Akyel Got forward at every opportunity and gave Roberto Carlos plenty to think about. Great tackle to deny Edilson.
Alpay Ozalan Quick to read the play and immaculate in the tackle, Alpay also provided an aerial threat for Turkey.
Umit Davala Hugely impressive against Senegal in the quarter-finals, Umit was unable to recapture that form. Replaced by Izzet as Turkey chased the game.
Tugay Kerimoglu Provided Turkey with a solid defensive shield, but his passing was poor going forward.
Emre Belozoglu Made little impact, both in open play and also from set pieces. Replaced by Ilhan Mansiz soon after Ronaldo's goal.
Hasan Sas Turkey's creative force ran his heart out, but his decision making in attacking positions was erratic.
Ergun Penbe Given a torrid time by Cafu and Kleberson, Ergun allowed Brazil to exploit space down the Turkish left.
Yildiray Basturk Man-marked by Gilberto Silvo, Basturk's close ball skills were all too rarely showcased.
Hakan Sukur Another nightmare game completed a nightmare World Cup for the Parma striker, though he did test Marcos in the closing stages with a canny volley.
Substitutes:
Ilhan Mansiz (Replaced Emre, 62 mins) Turkey's quarter-final hero was unable to rescue his country a second time, but he did give the attack some zip.
Mustafa Izzet (Replaced Umit, 73 mins) Made his World Cup debut, but struggled to make any real impact.
Arif Erdem (Replaced Basturk, 88 mins) Allowed no time to change the course of the game.
