Turkey will attempt to pull off the greatest victory in their history on Wednesday when they play Brazil for a place in the World Cup final.

Both teams deny their semi-final will be a grudge match, following the South Americans' controversial 2-1 victory over the Turks in the group stage.

But the contest is bound to be fierce as Turkey look to stop star strikers Rivaldo and Ronaldo, who have both scored five goals in the tournament so far.

In a bad-tempered finish to their previous encounter, Turkey had two men sent off and Rivaldo feigned injury - an action for which he was later fined by Fifa.

However, Turkey coach Senol Gunes says his team will be motivated by their will to win and not by revenge.

"Our much-improved football and our hunger will achieve success," Gunes declared.

"The difference will be our will to win."

Gunes looks set to stick with out-of-form striker Hakan Sukur, the 30-year-old captain who has served Turkey so well over the past decade.

Sukur, who has been struggling with a hip injury, missed several excellent chances in the 1-0 extra-time victory over Senegal in the quarter-finals.

Ronaldo will start for Brazil, despite suffering from a sore thigh this week.

But striker Ronaldinho will miss the game through suspension having been sent off against England.

Coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has said Turkey must be respected despite their lack of tournament pedigree.

"They were good enough to qualify," he said.

"Whoever gets to the last four does so because they are much better than the others. If the favourites didn't get here, it's because they were not good enough."

Probable teams:

Brazil: Marcos; Lucio, Roque Junior, Edmilson, Cafu, Kleberson, Gilberto Silva, Juninho, Roberto Carlos, Ronaldo, Rivaldo.

Turkey: Rustu Recber, Fatih Akyel, Alpay Ozalan, Bulent Korkmaz, Ergun Penbe; Umit Davala, Yildiray Basturk, Tugay Kerimoglu, Emre Belozoglu, Hasan Sas, Hakan Sukur.

Referee: Kim Milton Neilsen (Denmark)
