Mini Motty is very simple to operate, but if you are having trouble then you have come to the right place.
After installing Motty you might have some questions, some of which are hopefully answered below. For more detailed help on a particular feature, click on the links to the right.
I have downloaded Motty. What do I do next?
Find the file you have saved and then open it.
If you cannot find the file, try searching for motty.exe using Find from the Windows Start button at the bottom right of the screen.
Double-click the file and follow the instructions.
I have opened the file and installed the file. What now?
Go to your Desktop and find the Motty icon.
If you cannot find the icon, click Start, Programs, BBC Sport and then Mini Motty.
I have installed the file and started Motty. Where do I start?
The best thing to do is to right-click on Motty, and select Bubble.
You should see the latest Football News stories. See How to receive football news to find out more.
If you click on Live Action then you will be invited to Select Teams to follow. For more details on this, see Selecting a team and How to follow live action.
I am not receiving anything from Motty.
Check that you are online. You must be connected to the internet to receive updates - or to read these help pages.
Also check the Options screen to ensure that you have selected FOLLOW LIVE ACTION and RECEIVE FOOTBALL NEWS.
And switch the sound ON if you want to hear from Motty.
Motty keeps wandering about and distracting me. I do have more important things to do, although I do still want to keep in touch with BBC Sport.
You have two options.
1. If you select Don't Move on the right-click menu then Motty will stay in one place, but still jump up and down and brandish red and yellow cards.
2. If you would rather not see him at all, select Minimise. He will still play sounds and produce his "bubble" when something happens, but you will not see him jumping around at all.
Motty won't shut up!
Visit Options and switch the sound OFF. You will still see the bubble when something happens.
I have a permanent connection to the internet but keep forgetting to switch Motty on.
Go to options and put a tick next to RUN ON START-UP and Motty will never leave your side while you are using your computer.
I want to know how to close down Motty
Simply right-click on the character, and select Exit Motty, the bottom option on the menu.

I use an Apple Mac and I am annoyed that I cannot use Motty
We are sorry about this, but we are unable to provide a Mac version of the toy. This might change in the future if there is sufficient demand and the technology can be developed.
