Sri Lanka blew hot and cold.
On their day they were very good, but on others they really weren't up to much at all, the defeat to Kenya - the upset of the tournament - was a case in point.
But they looked very motivated in other outings, and when Sanath Jayasuriya gets the bit between his teeth the whole team gets going.
They proved difficult to beat on South Africa's slow pitches, and in Chaminda Vaas they've got a formidable player in this form of the game.
An aggressive fellow who swings it both ways, he has found the going good - although he hasn't got the runs I think he should score.
But again on the flip side there's Mahela Jayawardene, such a classy player who had a very poor tournament and didn't reach double figures with the bat.
Marvan Attapattu played extrememly well and it's players like him that need to help build for the future, with stars like Aravinda de Silva, one of the finest the game has ever seen, bowing out.
