Shoaib is targetting specific Indian batsmen
|
Pakistan captain Waqar Younis says pace bowler Shoaib Akhtar could rip through India's batting line-up at Centurion Park on Saturday.
Australian speedster Brett Lee took three for 36 on the same wicket a fortnight ago - including captain Sourav Ganguly and Virender Sehwag - as India were bowled out for 120.
The total, in a nine-wicket defeat, was India's lowest ever World Cup score.
"Up the order, if you have raw pace it can do some damage," said Waqar.
"Brett Lee did it here and Shoaib Akhtar could do the same."
Shoaib set the tournament alight against England a week ago, breaking the 100mph barrier for the first time in World Cup.
He has been moved up to open the bowling in place of Waqar and has 10 wickets in the tournament so far, at an average of 18.00.
Waqar believes India will gain no advantage from having already played on the strip.
"They have lost a game here - they will be worried," he said.
However, opposite number Ganguly says the match against Australia and Wednesday's win over England has prepared his side for the type of surface.
"We have played on wickets that bounce - Durban is the same as Centurion, so that will help us," he claimed.
