England won their opening match of the World Cup with an emphatic victory over Holland.

They easily reached their 143 target, despite losing four wickets.

Michael Vaughan and Nick Knight both hit half-centuries and earlier James Anderson was the pick of the England bowlers, taking four wickets for just 25 runs.

24th over: England win the match after Blackwell dispatches another four.

23rd over: Dutch spinner van Bunge causes all sorts of problems but Collingwood manages to sneak a boundary.

22nd over: Blackwell times the ball beautifully as he hits Kloppenburg for two fours.

21st over: Knight notches up his half-century off just 56 balls but is then out after he spoons a catch to Zuiderent.
England 126-4

20th over Blackwell leans into a drive to collect four runs off Raja through the covers.

19th over Vaughan edges a drive off new bowler van Bunge and is caught at first slip off a good leg-break.
England 107-2
Flintoff then pulls a long hop from van Bunge straight to mid-wicket.
England 107-3 Blackwell hits the last ball of the over, a full toss, for four.

18th over Vaughan reaches his 50 off the 43rd ball faced.

17th over Three sublime drives from Vaughan take England closer to their target as de Leede suffers.

16th over A better over from Raja, but England are not exactly troubled by the spinner.

15th over Another immaculate drive from Vaughan eludes mid-off to bring him another boundary.

14th over Three reverse sweeps from Knight bring him three boundaries off Raja.

13th over De Leede settles into a rhythm to staunch the flow of boundaries.

12th over The Dutch gamble by bringing the spinner Raja on early, and Vaughan drives him for another four after almost giving a catch to mid-on.

11th over De Leede's first over costs seven, and includes another driven four from Knight.

10th over A perfectly-placed drive from Knight disappears for four through the off-side.

9th over Vaughan hits two sublime off-drives for four, and follows up with a push through mid-wicket for another boundary. In between times he is so nearly run out.

8th over As he proved against India, Lefebvre is proving extremely tough to get away.

7th over Knight cuts Schiferli for four in an over worth nine runs to the England cause.

6th over Lefebvre keeps Vaughan tied down with some typically accurate stuff.

5th over Schiferli has his first wicket in one-day internationals with Trescothick advancing down the track only to miss the ball to be clean bowled.

4th over Lefebvre is picked off for four more.

3rd over Just a single comes off Schiferli's second over.

2nd over Trescothick slashes Lefebvre wide of backward point for four more.

1st over Schiferli is bowling at Trescothick, and the batsman has a single off the first ball before cracking the last one for four through the covers.


50th over: Smits times it perfectly for a boundary and de Leede survives a shout for a caught behind.

49th over: Flintoff finishes his 10-over spell with a bouncer.

48th over: Holland are resisting whatever England throw at them.

47th over: Smits smashes Flintoff for four.

46th over: Caddick restricts Holland to just one run off the over.

45th over: England cannot finish Holland off as De Leede hits a sweet shot for four.

44th over: Blackwell bowls his final over, finishing with two wickets for 37 runs.

43rd over: Another maiden for Flintoff

42nd over: There is rare celebration in the Dutch camp when De Leede celebrates a half-century, off 76 balls.

41st over: White completes his 10 overs and his side strain problem does not seem to have affected him.

40th over: Blackwell keeps it tight as Holland score one run from the over.

39th over: Craig White claims his second wicket of the match when he dismisses Adeel Raja lbw for two runs.

37th over: Lefebvre is bowled off the inside edge by a quicker delivery from White.

36th over: Lefebvre hits a rather streaky boundary off Blackwell.

35th over: Just the one run comes off White's seventh over.

34th over: Blackwell keeps the pressure on the eighth-wicket pair.

33rd over: De Leede cracks White over backward point for four.

32nd over: After hitting two fours off Blackwell, Schiferli is stumped by yards.

31st over: White bowls a maiden at Schiferli.

30th over: Blackwell's third over costs just two runs.

29th over: A loose over from White sees the Dutch collect seven more runs.

28th over: Kloppenburg's patience runs out as he lofts Blackwell high to deep mid-wicket where Knight takes the catch.

27th over: White, switched to the Buffalo Park Drive End, cannot end this stubborn partnership.

26th over: Blackwell's left-arm spin is introduced and the Somerset man gets a modicum of turn from this slow surface.

25th over: At the halfway point, Holland are 60 for five.

24th over: White's second over costs a couple of runs.

23rd over: Kloppenburg hits a poorly-directed Flintoff ball through the leg side for his first boundary.

22nd over: White's old injury is not apparent as his first over is a good, tight maiden.

21st over: Flintoff causes Kloppenburg plenty of problems.

20th over: Anderson finishes off with fine figures of 4-25.

19th over: Another excellent boundary from de Leede and Flintoff responds by giving the batsman some verbal stick.

18th over: De Leede hits two fine boundaries off Anderson's ninth over.

17th over: Statham falls lbw to Flintoff, as Holland's collapse continues.

16th over: Zuiderent gives mid-off the easiest of catches as Anderson strikes for the third time.

Moments later, van Noortwijk's leg-glance is brilliantly caught by Stewart.

15th over: Flintoff looks sharp in his first over.

14th over: Anderson ensures there will be no let up on the pressure, conceding just one extra off his seventh straight over.

13th over: Caddick bowls his fourth maiden.

12th over: Sussex pro Zuiderent is off the mark with two runs through mid-off.

11th over: Caddick bowls a maiden at Statham.

10th over: Van Troost is trapped lbw by Anderson with the left-hander falling victim to some late swing.
Holland 22-2

9th over: Both Dutch batsmen edge Caddick, but the ball just eludes the slips fielders in an over worth five runs.

8th over: On debut, Statham gets off the mark with a single off Anderson.

7th over: Caddick bowls another maiden, desperately trying to get some genuine pace out of this dead pitch.

6th over: Anderson gets the first breakthrough with van Bunge, slashing, caught in the gully by White.
Holland 15-1

5th over: Some wild shots meet fresh air as Holland attempt to get the run rate moving.

4th over: Van Bunge edges Anderson all along the ground between second and third slip for a furtunate boundary.

3rd over: An excellent over from Caddick is kept out by an uncertain van Troost.

2nd over: Anderson slips horribly in the middle of the over but completes a maiden at van Bunge.

1st over: Van Troost effortlessly drives Caddick for four through the covers.
