World Cup warm-up, Soweto Cricket Oval: New Zealand 306-5 beat Gauteng 190-8 by 116 runs
New Zealand eased to a comfortable 116-run victory over Gauteng thanks to a fine century from Stephen Fleming in Soweto.
Fleming hit 10 fours and three sixes on his way to 122
The Kiwi captain hit 122 off 128 balls before retiring to allow his team-mates the opportunity of some batting practice.
Chris Cairns took full advantage, smashing three sixes on his way to 70 from 59 balls, while Craig McMillan (38) and Lou Vincent (31 not out) helped the tourists to 306-5 from their 50 overs.
And the Gauteng batsmen struggled to get to grips with the tourists' hefty total.
Shane Burger was the only batsman putting up resistance with a stubborn innings of 42 not out.
All-rounder Andre Adams was the pick of the New Zealand bowlers, taking two wickets for 40 runs off nine overs.
The highlight of the match was undoubtedly Shane Bond's stunning one-handed catch on the fine leg boundary to dismiss opener Marthinus Otto in the eighth over.
And the paceman also impressed with the ball, registering respectable figures of 1-21 off eight overs.
Daniel Vettori (0-42) and Kyle Mills (1-31) were the only two bowlers who completed their allotted 10 overs.
