Ian Harvey
Ian Harvey
Born: 10/4/72
Team: Victoria
ODI debut: 24/3/02
Past World Cups: -

Right-arm fast-medium bowler
Right-handed batsman

Harvey was named as a late replacement after Shane Watson was confirmed as having a stress fracture in his back.

Gained valuable experience of South African conditions on last year's tour, but was overlooked for the recent home series against England and Sri Lanka.

Despite that, chief selector Trevor Hohns believes he has "the potential to be a match-winner" for Australia.

Harvey has excelled in one-day cricket at domestic level, especially for English county side Gloucestershire.

He made his international debut in December 1997 and although his performances have been unspectacular so far, he has never let Australia down.

Varies his pace intelligently with the ball, and is capable of useful runs in the lower middle order.

His belated selection offers compensation for missing out in 1999 when Tom Moody was preferred.
