Monde Zondeki
Born: 25/7/82
Team: Border
ODI debut: 16/12/02
Past World Cups: -

Right-arm fast bowler
Right-handed batsman

Bursting with pace and raw talent, Zondeki is already being touted by some as the natural successor to fast-bowling great Allan Donald.

The wiry fast bowler made his presence felt on the international scene when he took a wicket with his very first delivery against Sri Lanka in December.

Like provincial team-mate Makhaya Ntini, the 20-year-old has been fast-tracked into the national side as part of South Africa's policy to achieve a representative racial balance.

But 16 wickets in four matches for Border in the 2002/03 season, at an average of 23, has proved Zondeki might have what it takes to punch his weight in the national side.

With his youthful body yet to fill out, there is the genuine prospect that he can become even faster.

He may not be the finished product by the time of the World Cup, but hopes are high for future outings.
