Nissanka is a pacy bowler who has promised much over the last two seasons, but has been unable to fulfil his potential because of injury.

He learnt his trade at the MRF Fast Bowling Academy in Chennai in 1999 and was then selected for the A team which toured South Africa later that year.

Tendonitis blighted his career for a while but he has bounced back and played an important part in the one-day matches against South Africa, Australia and England towards the end of 2002.

Nissanka may be one of the surprise packages of the forthcoming World Cup.
