A powerful opening batsman, Hinds is a wonder to watch when he is in his stride and keen to dismiss questions about his defensive technique and temperament.
He is an aggressive stroke maker with the ability to hit the ball hard and is confident on the back-foot.
The 26-year-old, who made his first class debut with Jamaica in 1996, first represented the West Indies in the 1999/00 Singapore Cup.
After struggling in his debut against India, Hinds went on to establish himself as a regular player, especially in the one-day side.
Despite making the majority of his appearances as an opener Hinds only has one century to his name and has not reached three figures for close on two years and 44 matches.
A solid out-fielder who has also taken some catches at short leg, Hinds has enjoyed some excellent form recently - scoring 93 and 80 in the one-day series against India in November.
